Case Study - BHL

We were approached by BHL in 2005 with a brief of making their current website easier to navigate and to process orders quicker through the accounts system. Their existing website was difficult to amend often needing the author to do an upload and the back end stopped at sending an e-mail to the company to send an order. A typical order required the following processes :

     -  Download the order

     -  Enter the customer details into Sage Line 100

     -  Enter the Sales Order onto Sage Line 100

     -  Queue up at the company PDQ to process the card transaction

     -  Create a Purchase Order for the goods from the distributor

     -  Fax out the Purchase Order

     -  Create an invoice and post out

     -  Enter the cash in the cashbook

 BHL

Each order was typically taking 30 minutes to process. Orders were coming in at over 2 an hour so the company were employing more clerks to process the orders which is expensive. After looking at all the processes Kinspeed created a new website using x-cart technology. This was fed by Sage Line 100 and webshop which ensured up to date products and pricing. Orders were sent for card processing through Protx for secure validation. The order data was then pulled into Sage Line 100 via Webshop and a customer record, sales order and purchase order was created automatically following all the business rules set out by Sage. The sales invoice and purchase order were e-mailed out via Spindle.

BHL can now take unlimited orders each and every day and concentrate on keeping their web site at the top of the rankings.

Wonga’s wake up call for Britain’s banks: it’s time to lend to small businesses

Last week’s news that lender Wonga (a provider of high cost short term personal loans) has launched a business loans service, promising to make funds of £3,000 to £10,000 available within 15 minutes of an application is a signal to banks and the Government that they are simply not doing enough to support responsible lending to Britain’s small business community.
